I’m on a bit of a no-sew kick at the moment. Life is busy, time is short and I’m all about making the most of it with quick and cute projects.

This crochet seal is made in the same style as my no-sew bear and no-sew bunny patterns or as I like to refer to them in my rough notes, the pocket pals.

How to Crochet a Seal

This crochet seal is worked in one piece from the top down.

We’ll begin by chaining 2 and working 6 single crochet into the second chain from hook. This is my preferred starting method when using plush yarn.

The arms are made up of bobble stitches in the front loop only and the tail is 2 half double crochet popcorn stitches separated by a slip stitch.

Some simple embroidery finishes off our sweet little seal.

Why You’ll Love This Crochet Seal Pattern

  • Basic stitches: Uses mostly single crochet stitches.
  • No-sew: Doesn’t require any sewing aside from hiding ends and adding facial features.
  • Instant gratification: Can be finished in less than an hour.

Finished Size

The finished seal measures approximately 3″ (8cm) long. Size may vary depending on tension and materials used.

Gauge

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Use a hook size to match your chosen yarn. Make sure that your stitches are tight enough to prevent stuffing showing through and adjust hook size if necessary.

Notes

  • Pieces are worked in a continuous spiral. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker.
  • All bobble stitches are worked in the front loop only.
